CM should maintain decorum: Dharam
Bangalore, May 11 (UNI) Opposition Leader in the Karnataka Assembly N Dharam Singh today alleged that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had failed to maintain the decorum of the office.
''Mr Kumaraswamy's recent behaviour at the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) and his outbursts against Vice Chancellor Sudha Rao, in connection with regularisation of daily wage employees who had been removed last year, was condemnable. The CM should maintain dignity'', he said.
Talking to newspersons here, he said KOSU was an autonomous body and the Chief Minister should have first called for a report from the department concerned and then taken appropriate action.
''The Vice Chancellor's office has its own dignity. The Chief Minister has no right to insult an officer of that stature,'' he said.
Referring to unabated farmers suicides, he said in Bidar alone 20 farmers had committed suicide in the recent days. ''The state government has totally failed to come to the rescue of the farmers,'' he alleged Taking strong exception to the state government's move to restrict working hours for women up to 2000 hrs , Mr Singh alleged that this showed that the government was not in a position to provide security to women in the state.
''The Labour Minister's explanation that such a move was initiated towards protecting women, was an irresponsible statement. He should not make such foolish statements being a Minister.'' He also alleged that whenever a Bill had to be passed it was an obligation on part of the government to consult Opposition parties, but in this regard no consultation was done and it had attracted public wrath.
