Tripura: BSF recovers contraband worth Rs 68 lkh
Agartala, May 11: The Border Security Force(BSF) recovered contraband, including Phensedyl and Ganja, worth Rs 68 lakh from different locations along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura last month.
BSF officials here today said that besides smuggled items, the BSF detained 96 infiltrators, both Indians and Bangladeshis, while six militants had also surrendered during this period.
Meanwhile, a senior BSF official said the force along the 856-km-long border in Tripura had been alerted following the current political turmoil in Bangladesh. He said many people from across the border take shelter in Tripura whenever tension erupts in their country.
The jawans were instructed to keep a close watch on civilian movements in border areas. The BSF had increased its strength in a few BOPs in the state, the official added.
