Two killed and equal number of HM militants arrested

Srinagar May 10 (UNI) Two people, including a woman, were killed while security forces averted a major tragedy and arrested two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) in Jammu and Kashmir overnight.

An official spokesman said security forces during a routine patrolling detected an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by militants to target security forces at Shalahala Nallah last evening.

The area was immediately sealed and later Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused the IED without causing any damage.

He said security forces busted a hideout and recovered 16 pendle bombs, ten detonators, nine magzines and 250 rounds of ammunition at Sherpora, Pattan today.

However, no one was arrested.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kupwara, Vijay Kumar said following successful operation at Dard Hari, where five militants were killed yesterday, two more militants were arrested today.

He identified the militants as Bilal Ahmad Mir and Abdul Majid Wani. They were working as guide for militants and helping them to cross the Line of Control (LoC).

A police spokesman said body of a woman was fished out from river Jehlum at Hajin while another body was recovered at Puhroo last night.
