Three injured, 85 houses destroyed in fire accident

Machilipatnam, May 10 (UNI) About 50 houses were gutted and 35 partially damaged in a major fire mishap at Papavinasanam in Ghantasala mandal, 25 kms from here this afternoon, according to official sources.

Five fire tenders from Machilipatnam, Gudivada, Avanigadda, Movva and Challapalli rushed to the area and controlled the flames.

As per primary estimates, blackgrams, paddy and other items worth Rs 20 lakh were also destroyed. A local satellite cable station was damaged, police said.

Three persons including a woman were severely affected due to suffocations. But their condition was stable.

Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Mandali Buddhaprasad, Nidumolu Legislator P Ramaiah and Machilipatnam RDO rushed to the scene of the mishap.

UNI
