RS adjourned for the day over TN media attack, Gujarat encounters

New Delhi, May 10 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day today following uproarious scenes over the attack on a newspaper office in Tamil Nadu, allegedly involving supporters of the son of DMK chief and state Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, and Gujarat fake encounter issue.

The house was adjourned twice earlier.

As soon as the house reassembled at 1400 hrs, Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan asked BJP leader M M Joshi to speak.

However, the AIADMK members trooped into the Well of the House demanding immediate discussion on the attack on newspaper office in Tamil Nadu which involved the supporters of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's son. BJP members and other NDA allies were also supporting the AIADMK members in their protest against the attack.

The Treasury Benches were also on their toes demanding a discussion on the Gujarat fake encounters.

Mr Khan tried to pacify the members by reminding them ''This is not Zero Hour. Let us discuss agriculture.'' However, as none of the agitated members were in mood to heed to the advice of the chair, Mr Khan adjourned the House till 1100hrs tomorrow.

It was for the third day that the Gujarat fake encounter issue led to the disruption of the proceedings of the House while the situation was aggravated as AIADMK members demanded immediate discussion on the attack on mediapersons in Tamil Nadu.
