Punjab govt wants night landing facilities at airports
Chandigarh, May 10 (UNI) The Punjab Government has requested the Union Government to upgrade the facilities at the Patiala and Sahnewal (Ludhiana) civil airports, including night landing facilities.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has directed state Chief Secretary R I Singh to approach the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Airport Authority of India (AAI) for early clearance of the proposal to upgrade the facilities at the two airports.
One of the key issues relates to the provision of night landing facility at these airports. In addition, the state government also wants the DGCA to review the altitude norms for the Sahnewal airport to permit flying above, 3500 feet.
The Chief Minister gave these directions at a meeting, which was attended by his Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, Media Advisor Harcharan Bains, Chief Secretary R I Singh and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister D S Guru.
