Haryana: Quality control labs for pesticides/fertilisers
Chandigarh, May 10 (UNI) In order to check malpractices and adulteration in fertilisers and pesticides and to ensure good quality of agricultural inputs to the farmers, the Haryana government has decided to set up two new State Quality Control Laboratories of Pesticides and Fertilisers at Panchkula.
An official spokesman said the state government had made a budget provision of Rs 90 lakh for this purpose.
These laboratories would conduct analysis of pesticides and fertiliser samples on the basis of provisions of Insecticides Act 1968, Insecticides Rules, 1971, and Fertiliser (Control) order, 1985 and Essential Commodities Act, 1955, he added.
He said that although there would not be any direct income from the scheme, yet it would go a long way in increasing the agricultural production by ensuring the supply of good quality agricultural inputs to the farmers.
