Dell launches 'Latitude' series of notebooks

New Delhi, May 10 (UNI) Expanding its clientele among big corporates, desktop and notebook maker Dell today unveiled its new range of 'Latitude' notebooks, promising advanced configuration services, longer battery life and better connectivity.

The new notebooks equipped with next-generation wireless technologies and extended capacity batteries are based on the latest Intel and AMD processors platform.

''The Latitude D630 and D830 are designed on Intel platform while D531 notebook is based on AMD processors which will help in simplifying operations and improving productivity,'' Dell Asia Pte Ltd Director Christine Rand told reporters here.

The D630 is 15 per cent more efficient over the previous generation and features up to nine hours of battery life, she said.

The company will offer the Latitude D430 ultra-mobile notebook and Precision M4300 in the coming weeks.

The Latitude D630 is priced at Rs 58,012 while D830 is available for Rs 63,769 and D531 at Rs 52,618.

Moving towards the one-billion-dollar sales mark, Dell's manufacturing facility at Chennai will come into operation from July producing desktops initially for the domestic market and later notebooks and other products depending upon the demand.

The company, mainly catering to corporate giants, will also penetrate into the consumer and small and medium business (SMB) segments for which study is on in the Chinese market.

The 500 million-dollar-company registered a 70 per cent year-on-year growth last fiscal in the fast growing Indian market.

Nearly 85 per cent of its sales come from big companies.
