Campain to highlight role of Haryanvi freedom fighters

Rohtak, May 10 (UNI) Swatantrata Varsha Abhiyan, the year-long campaign to highlight the role of Haryanvi freedom fighters in India's first War of Independence would commence from Narnaul on May 12.

Conceived by Haryana Union of Journalists, the campaign would comprise a combination of various programmes, including a research project and a Kavi- Sammelan, to be spread over next one year, HUJ state president Virender Singh Chauhan and working president DN Diwakar said here today.

Haryana chief parliamentary secretary Dharambir Singh would be the chief guest in the inaugural function to be held in the Panchayat Bhawan at Narnaul.

Before the formal ceremony at Narnaul, an HUJ delegation along with other prominent persons, would pay homage at the Nasibpur memorial of the martyrs of 1857 in Mahendergarh district.

The HUJ leaders said the campaign would aim at bringing before the masses and especially the new generation, various un-documented aspects of the first war of freedom related to Haryana.
