BMC purchases new fogging machines
Mumbai, May 10 (UNI) The insecticide department of BMC has purchased 48 new hand-held fogging machines for controlling pests and rodents in the city.
New vehicle-mounted fogging machines have been purchased at a cost of Rs 10 crore.
The BMC is strengthening its public health care system and in the past has set up an ultra modern molecular reference laboratory at Kasturba Hospital.
According to a BMC release, stray dogs in the city will be sterilized and a provision of Rs 4 crore has been made for this purpose. As directed by the High Court, the sterilization of stray dogs will be undertaken with the help of NGOs. An additional Rs 7.4 crore has been allocated for the anti rabies vaccine that will be given free of cost to all patients.
Every year the BMC spends Rs 50 lakh for MMR vaccines that is given free of cost and is the only municipal corporation in the country to do so.
