Anti-national forces trying to destabilise harmony:Taslimuddin

Kishanganj, May 10 (UNI) Union Minister of State(MoS) Md Taslimuddin today expressed concern over the way mafia dons and anti-national elements were rearing their heads in this border district and desperately trying to destablise communal harmony and peace.

Talking to newspersons here the RJD leader called for stern measures to frustrate the evil designs.

He mentioned a string of developments where traffickers of explosives and mafia dons, thriving on land purchase deals at throw-away prices by bullying land owners, had stepped up their sinister activities.

He wondered how such people were enlarged on bails and demanded identification and exposure of such bailers. Md Taslimuddin also referred to the seizure of high-powered RDX, and said the authorities must be seized of how they were spreading their tentacles in this highly sensitive border district of Bihar.

The minister talked about how the land mafia was designing to infiltrate different echelons in the society.

Clarifying the inordinate delay in releasing funds for the acquisition of a 70-acre plot for the establishment of a base camp for central para-military Sashastra Seema Bal(SSB) at Kishanganj, the MoS revealed that the Home Ministry had stumbled upon reports as how land valuation and price of land to be acquired from individuals had been hiked allegedly in connivance with the SSB top-brass and revenue officials.

''The home ministry actually wanted better transparency and fair deal,'' he added.

Appreciating the measures taken by the NDA government for the state's all-round development, Md Taslimuddin said, ''Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should also look into how the estimates of the bevy of schemes and plans were hiked by the engineers, working in tandem with the contractors, so as to gobble up the huge funds.

''He must keep a watch on this as well,'' he advised Mr Kumar.
