Ankit's abductor Balram Paswan sent on judicial remand

Patna, May 10 (UNI) The Assistant Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) of Patna High Court today sent Balram Paswan, a domestic help, to 14 days' judicial custody in connection with the Ankit abduction case.

Police produced Paswan before the court and prayed for police remand but the judge sent him to judicial custody.

Senior Police Superintendent Kundan Krishnan said Paswan would be interrogated further, adding that if required, a lie-detector test would also be carried out to extract the truth from the servant.

Meanwhile, confusion prevailed over the sensational abduction of Ankit as Paswan took a U-turn and changed his statement and said Ankit was alive and staying with his accomplice Sanjay Rajak.

Earlier, Paswan had confessed abducting and killing Ankit on April 12. As per the clues provided by him, police tried to recover the body from the bank of river Saryu in Chapra yesterday but in vain. Police could recover nothing except a portion of a trouser, identifed as Ankit's by his relatives.

Incidentally, the abduction on April 12 from the capital city had forced the police to launch a massive manhunt. But despite all efforts, the boy could not be traced, though his school bag and some other belongings were recovered from different places here causing suspicions about the fate of Ankit.
