Allow Kashmiris in POK to return and live a peaceful life: CPI(M)

Srinagar, May 10 (UNI) Urging the government to facilitate the return of Kashmiri youths still in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) here, the Communist Party of India (M) said such a measure would help the ongoing peace process.

Addressing a public meeting at Nihama in south Kashmir today, the CPI(M) state secretary Mohammad Yousuf Targami said return of Kashmiri youth, who, for whatever reasons, had crossed over the LOC during the past 17 years should be allowed to return and lead peaceful and dignified life.

This would constitute a major Confidence Building Measure (CBM) towards bringing back peace and normalcy in the state, he said but regretted that though his party had been raising the issue time and again, no action had been taken in this regard.

He described such a measure as being a ''significant component to ongoing peace process.'' Mr Tarigami made a forceful plea for constituting a credible mechanism to place before the people all the facts relating to the persons, who had disappeared mysteriously since 1990.

Their kith and kin have been passing agonizing moments for long years, he said and pleaded for identifying of all those, found involved in their disappearance and taken ation against them.

Mr Tarigami deplored that despite tall claims, the conditions of windows and orphans and other victims of violence had not registered any visible improvement.
