5 of family killed in freak mishap

Kolar, Karnataka, May 10 (UNI) Five members of a family were killed on the spot when a stone slab fell on them while they were sleeping last night in Venkatapura Village, about 20 km from here.

Police said as the weather was hot, the victims were sleeping outside the house when a stone slab fell on them.

The victims were identified as Srirama Reddy (53), his wife Lakshmi Devamma (45), daughter Aruna (17), grand daughter Nandini (7) and Lakshmi (5).

However, two other members of the family-- son Chennakesha and three-year-old grand daughter Naveena-- escaped unhurt as they were sleeping inside the house.

UNI
