15Oth anniversary of Sepoy Mutiny commemmorated in Mizoram

Aizawl, May 10 (UNI) Mizos today celebrated the 150th anniversary of Sepoy Mutiny, a watershed in the country's freedommovement against the Britishers.

This ceremonial function, organised by the Mizoram government, was significant because it was for the first time that the "First War of Independence" was commemorated in the state.

Aizawl West College Principal Sangkima presented a paper on the "First War of Independence(1857) : Its Value And Significance" at the function, where government officials, students, war veterans and other dignitaries tookpart.

The function was also graced by Mizoram Health Minister R Tlanghmingthanga.

UNI
