13-member Indian squad for Asian Judo championship
Patiala, May 10 (UNI) Eighteen countries in the sub-continent will vie for top honours in the Asian Judo Championship slated for May 14 to 18 in Kuwait.
A thirteen-member Indian contingent, comprising seven boys and six girls, and accompanied by coaches J G Sharma, Satish Sharma, Satish Pahare and Suma Gogi, will leave for Kuwait on May 13 to participate in the Championship.
The Championship is the Olympic qualifying competition, according to Judo Federation of India (JFI) secretary-general Mukesh Kumar, who will leave for Kuwait a day ahead of the departure of the Indian contingent.
Talking to UNI here today, Mukesh Kumar was candid enough when he said that "though the competition in Kuwait will be very tough, we hope to do well".
