World Athletics Day Meet on May 12 and 13

Bangalore, May 9 (UNI) More than 1600 budding athletes, including 120 from Sri Lanka, will be seen in action in the World Athletics Day Meet to be held here on May 12 and 13.

Talking to newsmen here, Karnataka Athletics Association Secretary and Organising Secretary of the meet Satyanarayana told media persons that this was for the first time that the event held to commemorate the "World Athletics Day".

He said that the events would be held in 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500 m, 3000 m, Hurdles, 400 m Hurdles and High Jump. Competition would be held for Boys and Girls in the age group of under-8 to under-17.

He said Youth Nationals would be held in June and it would a selection trial for selecting the Indian team that participate in Youth World Championship to be held in Czech Republic during October.
