Transporters call 48 hours bandh
Imphal, May 9 (UNI) The Transporters' and Drivers' Council(TDC) has called a 48-hour 'Chaka bandh' from midnight of May 13, TDC officials said today.
Ng Haridas Singh, General Secretary of the TDC, said the decision to call the strike was taken yesterday as the transporters were facing pressure from all sorts of organisations.
He stated that militants, students and NGOs demanded money from the transporters.
He added that the State Election Department had failed to pay the vehicle-hiring charges for the 9th state Assembly elections held during February.
