Tourism: Haryana to open chain of training institutes
Chandigarh, May 9 (UNI) The Haryana Tourism Department has decided to open a chain of training institutes in the state to meet the ongoing demand of skilled manpower by the tourism and hotel industry.
Minister of State for Tourism and Forests Kiran Choudhry said an amount of Rs 2.10 crore under the 11th Five Year Plan for 2007-2012 and Rs 20 lakh under the Annual plan for the current financial year had been proposed by the State Governent to set up four institutes and upgrade the infrastructure and equipments of the two existing training institutes in the state.
The Minister said the state government was making all efforts to provide excellent institutes for the educated youth of the state to offer them job-oriented training.
She said the Haryana Tourism had earmarked a sum of Rs one crore under the 11th Five Year Plan and Rs four lakh during the current financial year for the modernisation and upgradation of a Hotel Management Institute at Panipat and a Food Crafts Institute at Faridabad.
A sum of Rs 1.10 crore under the 11th Five Year Plan and Rs 16 lakh under the Annual Plan for the current financial year had also been proposed for setting up of new Institute of Excellence in Tourism and Travel Trade at Kurukshetra, Tilyar Lake at Rohtak, Badkhal Lake at Faridabad and Bhiwani or any other place in Haryana in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Tourism and Travel Trade.
She said 25 per cent seats would be reserved in these institutes for the youths having Haryana domicile and this would make appropriate manpower available for the tourism and hotel projects in the state.
