Sahara Group to setup townships in 217 cities

Lucknow, May 9 (UNI) The diversified Sahara Group today announced the launch of 'Sahara City Homes' townships in 217 cities acros India.

The townships, to be developed by Group company Sahara Infrastructure&Housing (Sahara I&H), would be spread across the country covering tier I, II and III cities.

The first township was launched in Lucknow this morning with the laying of a gold brick at a construction block by Sahara Group Chairman Subrata Roy.

''Designed by ace architect Hafeez Contractor, the first fully air-conditioned township of India will provide best community living and will change the living standard of people,'' Mr Roy said.

The Lucknow township is estimated at Rs 2,000 crore.

''This project would set new standards in luxury and style and would give an opportunity to many to experience this world class living and the best amenities that the township offers,'' Sahara I&H Head Subrata Roy said addressing the mediapersons.

The construction work at 'Sahara City Homes' here is in full swing and the possession of property will begin in 2009. A total of 30 blocks are under construction, which would house 1,620 residential units.

The Lucknow township will have modern amenities like multilevel security system with centralised control station, CCTV and quick response teams.

''The township will provide uninterrupted power supply with 100 per cent back-up, 24 hour satellite connectivity for TV, video conferencing and wireless connectivity for broadband internet access,'' Mr Suhant Roy informed.

Spread on an area over 200 acres 'Sahara City Homes' Lucknow is one of the biggest real estate projects, which include 1 to 5 bedrooms high-rise&mid-rise apartments, independent row houses, independent semi-detached houses, penthouses and independent bunglows.

Besides, a shopping mall with a blend of shopping, entertainment and unmatched conveniences would be the highlights of Sahara City Homes townships.

The Lucknow-based Sahara Group has interests in housing, infrastructure, media and para-banking. Another Group company Sahara Airlines was recently acquired by India's largest private airliner Jet Airways.
