RS members want Gomoh to be named after Netaji Bose

New Delhi, Apr 9 (UNI) Members of Rajya Sabha today voiced their demand to rename Gomoh Railway station in Jharkhand in the memory of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Raising the issue in the form of Special Mentions, Dr Barun Mukherjee of All India Forward Bloc recalled the importance of this Railway station and said it was from here that the founder of Indian National Army went out of the country and people of Jharkhand proudly remembered this.

His demand was supported by Mr S S Ahluwalia of the BJP.

Mr Praveen Rashtrapal of INC expressed his concern over the disposal of toxic wastes by Union Carbide at Indore in Madhya Pradesh and Ankleshwar in Gujarat. He said it was this company which had caused the infamous gas tragedy at Bhopal.

Mr B K Hariprasad of Congress urged the government to release its share of money on the ongoing Sampuran Gram Swaraj Yojana Projects in Karnataka while Mrs Prma Cariappa of INC urged developing Tadri as an all weather major port in North Canara district in Karnataka.

Mr Datta Meghe of NCP expressed his concern about food items in the country whereas Mrs Anusuia Uikey of BJP demanded higher minimum support price to the farmers in the country. Dr Gyan Prakash Pilania of BJP spoke of the grave scenario pervading the armed forces often resulting in suicides.

Mrs N P Dura of TDP opposed the Railways adopting unfair means to extract money from the passengers in the name of Tatkal reservation while Mr Ali Anwar of JD(U), expressed concern about the harassment of rail passengers travelling in unreserved coaches. Mrs Supriya Sule of NCP demanded Central approval for all pending proposals sent by Maharashtra Government under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.

Mr Rajniti Prasad of RJD urged the government to accord higher priority in releasing funds for education for Bihar as it had weak education infrastructure.

Mr Brij Bhushan Tiwari of SP drew the attention of the House towards weak mobile signals in Gursahai Ganj in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh and urged the Communication Ministry to provided improve mobile facilities without any further delay.

Mr Shreegopal Vyas of BJP demanded the government to revive Saraswati river which was lost over a period of time to overcome water scarcity.
