Repair damaged roads in Kashmir, minister

Srinagar, May 9 (UNI) Minister for Roads and Buildings (R&B) Gulchain Singh Charak directed all Executive Engineers of Kashmir division to repair the roads, damaged during winter season, on war footing.

He said there should be no compromise on quality of work and any lapse in this regard will call for stern action against the erring officials.

Majority of roads in the Kashmir valley, including summer capital, Srinagar, have been damaged during the winter, thereby disrupting traffic movement.

He also directed for speeding up construction and upgradation work on all road projects taken under various schemes.

He said under PMGSY 523 roads projects have been approved and urged for early completion of these road projects.

He asked engineers to immediately take up work on all roads cleared under PMGSY and NABARD.
