Rajasthan to organise ''Khadi Exhibition'' in New York

Jaipur, May 9(UNI) Rajasthan is planning to organise a ''khadi exhibition'' in New York to popularise its new designer wear ''khadi'' products.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who has of late been championing the cause of the weavers and spinners in the state, said Rajasthan's ''khadi'' products are not only popular in the country but also in abroad. She said, in order to market the newly designed khadi products an exhibition would be organised in New York.

Raje said this while speaking at a khadi exhibition organised in Bikaner yesterday. She reiterated the state government's commitment to khadi and market it internationally. The Chief Minister stressed the need for designing khadi products keeping in mind the prevailing fashion trends.

The Chief Minister said that Bikaner carpets and wool are also world famous. It has been the biggest market of wool in Asia and the demand for wool for making carpets and other items has been continously on the rise.

She emphasised that in order to cash in on the renewed interest in khadi it was necessary that khadi products should match with the latest fads and tastes of the youngsters.
