No nominations filed on second day as well for Ullal bypoll

Mangalore, May 9 (UNI) No nomination papers were filed on the second day as well for the June two byelection to the Ullal assembly seat in Karnataka for which the notification was issued yesterday.

The last day for the filing of nomination would be May 15.

Scrutiny would be held on May 16 and last date for the withdrawal was May 18. Counting of ballot would be on June 5.

The seat had fallen vacant due to the death of sitting Congress legislator U T Fareed.

The Bharatiya Janata Party announced Chandrashekhar Uchil, the defeated candidate in the 2004 election as the party's nominee, while CPI(M) named Balakrishna Shetty as its candidate.

UNI
