NDA government is committed to minority development
Patna, May 9 (UNI) To boost the socio-political and educational conditions of the minority, the Nitish Kumar government had asked the banks to waive off loans of Bhagalpur riot victims for redressal of their grievances.
Official sources said here today that the NDA government had asked the banks to waive off the loans of riot victim weavers. The government also granted a fund of Rs 21 crore for the redressal of their grievances. The sources said the government had decided to provide them cheaper electricity supply at the rate of Rs 1.50 per unit.
In order to strengthen the socio-economic conditions of minorities the state government had made operational various agencies and schemes related to the welfare of the minorities, including 'Minorities Commission' as well as 'Minority Finance Corporation'.
The state government had also proposed to allocate Rs 40 lakhs in the 2007-08 budget for a scheme in which divorced minority women would get Rs 10,000 each. A fund of Rs 5 crore was granted in 2006-07 for the fortification of graveyards in the state which had been increased to Rs 10 crore for this fiscal.
The sources said the Bihar Urdu Academy had been granted Rs 1 crore and the Madrasa Board and Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu had been granted Rs 50 lakhs and Rs 4 lakhs respectively.
