Intel launches new products priced at Rs 50,000

New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) Intel India today unveiled a new range of products for its latest generation processor technology used in notebook PCs for consumers and businesses priced about Rs 50,000.

A part of the Santa Rosa platform, the Duo and Pro models can access frequently used software applications twice as fast and reduce the time it takes to turn on or boot-up a laptop by as much as 20 per cent which enables greater battery life.

''We have improved virtually all aspects of Intel-based notebooks. Another first is the use of Flash technology that is used in mobiles,'' said Intel Managing Director (South Asia) Ramamurthy Sivakumar.

The company has improved integrated graphics in Centrino Duo, adding features and software, that improves the quality of the video, enhancing the gaming experience.

The Intel Centrino Pro provides business-class notebook PCs with wireless PC management, protection and repair work.

The prices will definitely come down once it becomes popular, Mr Sivakumar said.

However, he declined to comment on the expected sales figures.

The total share of notebook sales in the IT-industry is 23 per cent in the country.

The sector is expanding tremendously with 58 per cent growth in 2006-07. The CAGR is expected to be around 4.7 per cent by 2011.
