Infopark to generate 40,000 job opportunities by 2010
Kochi, May 9 (UNI)The Kerala Government-promoted Infopark here will generate employment for around 40,000 IT professionals by 2010, according to Infopark CEO N Radhakrishnan Nair.
In a statement today, Mr Nair said the scenario at the park had changed with the completion of various time-bound IT projects resulting in more companies vying for space at the IT hub.
He said companies like Wipro, L&T, TCS and IBS were expanding their operations in the park.
''By 2010 four million square feet of space will be devoted to IT operations apart from the present 3.5 lakh square feet,'' he added.
''The expansion would generate employment for another 40,000 IT professionals in the next three years. Currently, 3,500 IT experts are working at the park,'' Mr Nair noted.
Apart from these, the park would also construct a new IT hub, to be completed next year, at a cost of Rs 50 crore, which would provide job opportunities for 4,000 professionals, he added.
