Kaithal, May 9 (UNI) The local unit of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak committee (HSGPC) today decided not to allow Akali Dal leaders from Punjab to hold meetings in state Gurdwaras scheduled for May 12.

The Akali leaders had announced that they would hold meetings in Haryana to oppose the proposed formation of a separate Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in Haryana.

''We will not allow such meetings and boycott the visit of the Akali leaders by showing them black flags and burning their effigies,'' Kaithal HSGPC member Sarjit Singh said after an emergency meeting of the committee here.

He said it was unanimously resolved in the meeting that Akali Dal, being a political party, should not be allowed to hold meetings in Haryana gurdwaras aimed at dividing the Sikhs in the state.

''The Sikhs in Haryana have now awakened and they will not allow the income from Gurdwaras in the state to be taken to Panjab,'' said a statement issued by Mr Sarjit Singh.
