New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) The government today called on India Inc to establish an integrated business relationship with rural India, by entering into a memorandam of understanding (MoU) with village panchayats to establish Rural-Business Hubs (RBH).

''The inclusive growth must include the production agents in rural India in the development process, as rural India should not any longer remain at the receiving end of corporate charity,'' Minister for Panchayati Raj Mani Shankar Aiyar said while addressing the two-day Rural Marketing Summit 2007 here.

The government can offer convergence so that corporates who engage with the rural community are facilitated by way of access to government's rural development schemes and the sources for raising funds, Mr Aiyar said.

FICCI President Habil Khorakiwala said states of West Bengal, Bihar, Punjab and Haryana were partnering with the private sector to extend telecom services, setting up of RBHs, rural kiosks and increasing internet penetration.

He suggested development of rural kiosks should be considered as part of the Bharat Nirman Programme and budget allocations could be used to promote PPPs.

Mr Aiyar said that the present Panchayati Raj system helps reduce the administrative cost and double the funds reaching rural areas.
