New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) Maintaining the trend of cool weather in Delhi over the last week, cool easterly winds today brought down mercury in the Capital to 38.1 degree Celsius.

The easterlies, set off by a fresh upper air cyclonic circulation over Uttarakhand and adjoining West Uttar Pradesh, led to a fall in maximum temperature from 40.2 degree yesterday to 38.1 degree, two degrees below normal.

The coming days are likely to witness a further drop in mercury with the weatherman forecasting duststorms or thunderstorms accompanied with squall over Delhi and other parts of Northwest India during the next 48 hours under the influence of the upper air circulation.

Isolated thundersqualls are also likely over Delhi, they said.

The drop in mercury today continued the trend of normal or below normal temperatures in Delhi over the last week brought about by an Upper air circulation.

The circulation caused rains in Delhi on Sunday, bringing down the mercury to 32.5 degree and 37.3 degree on Monday.

Though, the mercury rose yesterday to 40.2 Degree C, it was still the normal temperature at this time of the year.

The weather office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with possibility of duststorms or thunderstorms in some areas.

They have forecast a maximum temperature of 39 Degree C tomorrow.
