Bank guard's gun misfires, five injured

Akola, May 9 (UNI) Five persons were injured when the gun of a security guard at the State Bank of India branch at Washim misfired.

The loaded gun of the security guard, Suresh Bamne, misfired yesterday, when it fell on the floor from the wall nearby, where it was kept, while he was assiting a lady customer.

The five customers - Afisabi Abdul Rahman (60), Madhav Honaji Avchar (66), Hausabai Rangrao Kadam (60), Pandhari Dnyanba Chavan (40) and Vasant Rathod (35) - sustained minor injuries.

Customer Vasant Rathod, in his complaint with the police said he was depositing cash in the bank when the .2 bore rifle misfired at around 1545 hrs injuring him and four other persons, police sources said here today.

An offence has been registered under sections 286, 337 of the IPC against Mr Bamne. He has, however, not been arrested, sources added.
