Avesthagen acquires major stake in two south Indian seed firms
Bangalore, May 9 (UNI) Avesthagen and Groupe Limagrain have acquired majority stake in two south Indian seed companies in their efforts to develop innovative technologies for Indian farmers.
The acquisition of a Bangalore based Cee Kay Seeds and Seedlings Private Ltd and a Hyderabad based Swaghat Seeds Private Ltd., promises to usher in new agriculture technologies to benefit the Indian peasants, an Avesthagen press release said here today.
These would also serve as a platform to make Avesthagen's latest technologies available to farmers to address problems related to low productivity under stressed growing conditions the release added.
Avesthagen is India's leading systems biology innovation company that works towards the convergence of food, pharma and population genetics leading to predictive preventive personalized health care.
While Groupe Limagrain is, through its subsidiary Vilmorin and Cie, a global leader in field and vegetable crop seeds.
