Avesthagen acquires major stake in 2 South Indian seed firms

Bangalore, May 9 (UNI) Avesthagen and Groupe Limagrain have acquired majority stake in two South Indian seed companies in their efforts to develop innovative technologies for Indian farmers.

The acquisition of city-based Cee Kay Seeds and Seedlings Private Ltd and Hyderabad-based Swaghat Seeds Private Ltd promised to usher in new agriculture technologies to benefit the Indian peasants, an Avesthagen release here said today.

These would also serve as a platform to make Avesthagen's latest technologies available to farmers to address problems related to low productivity under stressed growing conditions, the release added.

Avesthagen was India's leading systems biology innovation company that worked towards the convergence of food, pharma and population genetics, leading to predictive, preventive, personalised healthcare.
