Srinagar, May 9 (UNI) The breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) has expressed serious concern over arrests of amalgam leaders and other innocent persons by the Jammu and Kashmir after Syed Ali Shah Geelani's rally at Eidgah on April 22.

A spokesman of the HC, Aiyaz Akbar, said the arrests of four senior leaders--including Ghulam Nabi Sumbji, Masarat Alam, Firdous Ahmad Shah and Mohammad Shafi Lone-- under Public Safety Act (PSA) has put a question mark on the India-Pakistan peace process.

He said, on the one hand, Indian authorities are claiming that they are sincere to resolve the Kashmir issue through dialogue process, but the situation on the ground is totally different.

Mr Akbar said the police action has also put a question mark on the claim of the Pakistan president General Pervez Musharraf and his foreign secretary that a progress has been made on Kashmir issue.

He alleged that police have arrested a number of Hurriyat workers and other innocent persons for their participation in Mr Geelani's rally.

'' It was nothing but a frustration of the government after thousands of people participate in the rally'', Mr Akbar said.

He alleged that police has sent photographs of students to different college authorities asking them to expel them from the college for their alleged participation in the rally.

Spokesman said unnecessary ''noise'' in Parliament over the successful rally of Mr Geelani will not help the Indian authorities to resolve the Kashmir issue.

Parliament witnessed noisy scenes and adjournments over the issue of Mr Geelani's public meeting on April 22 here in which militants also allegedly participated.
