10 years sentence for raping girls in HP

Dharamsala, May 9 (UNI) A local court here in Himachal Pradesh today sentenced a person to ten years rigorous imprisonment for raping two minor sisters and another two years for threatening to kill them besides a fine of Rs. 25,000.

Tarlo Singh, raped the the partially mentally challenged girls, at their home in February 2006 when their father was not in home and mother was sleeping in another room.

The accused person had come to attend a family function in the village and entered the house of the victims and sexually assaulted them.

The sisters identified the accused since tube-light of the room was switched on when he raped them.

The court sentenced Tarlok to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and another two years for threatening to kill them along with a fine of Rs. 25,000 that would be paid as compensation to the victims.

In case, the accused failed to pay the fine, he would have to undergo another two years and two months of additional imprisonment, it added.
