UL Advisory Council identifies four key areas to prevent fire
Bangalore, May 9 (UNI) India's first Fire Advisory Council(FAC), formed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), has identified four key focus areas and raise fire safety bar in the country.
The Council aims to focus on 'Identifying areas and product categories where no Fire Safety norms exist' and would form a team to identify such areas work towards implementing international standards, a UL press release said here today.
It discussed the 'need to train fire safety and prevention professionals who did not have adequate knowledge of using various equipment. UL has volunteered to offer training through two sessions of coaching classes which would be developed by UL in counsel with the FAC members.
The FAC had identified the 'need to spread the message of fire safety' amongst the general public and the professional community.
Managing Director, UL India and Chairperson of the Council R A Venkitachalam, said "The council will play the role of an advisory body and a think tank and develop options for solutions," he said.
