Udupi district to train 900 teachers to teach english
Udupi, May 8 (UNI) The Medical Education Minister and district in-charge minsiter Dr V S Acharya today said following the decision of the state government to introduce English as a subject from the first standard in schools, the district education department had taken steps to train 900 teachers.
Speaking to presspersons after chairing the Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) meeting here, said that English would be introduced in all schools in the district from the current academic year and model text book had also been provided.
The department had also taken steps to deploy the excess 90 teachers in the district to the rural areas to fill the vacancy of teachers, he said.
The government had also sanctioned Rs 20 lakh each for new high school buildings, Rs 34 lakh for Junior College buildings and Rs.
1.5 crore for college building in the district, he said.
