TDP warns of agitation if govt fails to stop land grabbing
Hyderabad, May 8 (UNI) The Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today threatened to launch an agitation if the Andhra Pradesh government failed to take steps to prevent encroachment of lands, allegedly by a person close to a Congress legislator at Ameenpur in the city outskirts.
A fact-finding team of the TDP led by former Ministers K Sivaprasada Rao and N Janardhana Reddy, which visited the village in neighbouring Medak district, expressed concern over the alleged encroachment of the land, which was part of the village tank, by the real estate promoter.
Five villages would face threat of submergence during the rainy season following the filling of the tank land, the TDP leaders opined.
With the backing of the ruling Congress partymen, the promoter was also threatening to give up their land close to the tank following land prices rising sharply due to rapid development in and around Hyderabad city, they added.
