State Minority Commission Vice Chairman condemns attack on pastor
Mumbai, May 8 (UNI) Vice Chairman of the Maharashtra State Minority Commission today condemned the brutal attack on Kolhapur pastors, allegedly by the right wing elements.
In a statement here Dr Mathai said, ''The premeditated brutal attack on two pastors last night at Ichalkaranji in Kolhapur deserves to be condemned in no uncertain terms. The attack reeks of sinister intent. This seems to be a brand new strategy on part of the Bajrang Dal and VHP to terrorise vulnerable local Christian communities and create a national fear psychosis.'' Dr Mathai, in his statement said, ''In this case, even after almost 24 hours of the incident the police have failed miserably in arresting the culprits although they are moving around freely giving TV interviews highlighting their 'bravado' in beating up hapless targets.'' The Christian community appeals to the Central Government and various State Governments to take cognizance of this new and shameless unleashing of terror on the part of the wanton instruments of hate, he added.
