State has saved crores of rupees in two months: khanduri
Dehradun, May 8 (UNI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Maj Gen (Retd) Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri today claimed that due to cut in several unwanted government expenses, the state has been successful in saving crores of rupees in just two months.
In a message released on the occasion of BJP Government completing two months in power, the Chief Minister said curtail in unnecessary government expenses was the first priority of the government to raise the state from the debt it was in. He said many important decisions had been taken to carve out the state in accordance with the dream of the people for which the state was formed.
Mr Khanduri said the government had decided to ensure 70 per cent employment to the youth in industrial units set up in the state and hold review of those industries enjoying special package.
To ensure quality, it has been decided to give construction contracts only to those institutions with specialists with them. All contractors found malpractising would be black listed and concerned government officals found abetting in process punished.
He said the government has chalked out new excise policy that would discourage liquor business to maintain the 'Dev Bhoomi' image of the state. To bring in transparency in recruitment process, it has been decided to make mandatory to provide a carbon copy of answer sheet to the candidates.
The Chief Minister said to provide immediate solution to public grievances, a Public Complain Cell has been set up in Chief Minister Office. All the District Magistrates and Senior Superintendent of Police have been instructed to look into the public grievances at their level regularly. Camp offices have been disolved and all the concerned officers asked to be present at their prescribed headquarters. He said, ''The government should reach out to the public, not vice versa''.
Mr Khanduri said considering that Uttarakhand was sharing borders with China, Nepal and Tibet, State Security Council has been constituted to maintain internal security of the state, following instructions from the Centre and the Apex Court.
Reason behind taking these decision was to bring the state back to its track and make it corruption free, he added.
''My government is committed to fulfill all the promises made in the party manifesto,'' he added.
