Shri Shri Ravi Shanker in Kashmir on peace mission

Srinagar, May 8 (UNI) Expressing his desire to meet people irrespective of their colour, creed and cast, spiritual guru Shri Shri Ravi Shanker is scheduled to meet separatist leaders at a peace conclave organised here by him to press the need for return of peace to the region.

Touched by the warm welcome, he said he was on a ''peace mission'' to Jammu and Kashmir, the Art of Living founder told newsmen outside the shrine of Makhdoom Sahib.

The spiritual guru arrived in Jammu yesterday on a three-day visit to the state and met militants and other undertrials in the high-security Kotbalwal jail, which also houses over 300 foreigners.

He deliverd a message of peace to jail inmates before visiting migrant camps in the city.

Guru Shanker immediately after his arrival drove straight to Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom shrine, Sharika Devi temple and Chattipadshahi gurudwara on Hari Parbat and prayed for return of peace to the state.

The spiritual guru who has lakhs of followers across the globe is scheduled to meet separatist leaders and intellectuals at a peace conclave organised by him at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Complex to press the need for return of peace to the region.

He has invited more than 100 intellectuals and separatist leaders to the conclave.

Guru Shanker said this was his second visit to Kashmir after June 2005 when he held talks with Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

He also visited a school at high security Shivpora which was adopted by his International Association of Human Values.
