Shahabuddins conviction sparks clash in Siwan Jail

Siwan, May 8 (UNI) The conviction of controversial RJD MP Md Shahabuddin today on charge of kidnapping CPI(ML) leader Chotelal Gupta triggered clash between his supporters and rivals in Siwan jail.

Jail sources here said some celebrations were reportedly on in ward number 1 by the rival camp of Md Shahabuddin after the pronouncement of the punishment which led to the clash.

However, no injury was reported and the situation was brought under control following timely action of the jail administration.

Jail Superintendent L K Sinha said the administration was alert as some persons inside the jail were trying to foment trouble. He said constant vigil was being maintained in the campus which was being manned by a company of Bihar Military Police(BMP) and a section of force of SAP. The nearby civil lines and the BMP camp was also on alert.

He said the MP had been given the admissible facility as per the jail manual.
