Punjab govt gives 3 polytechnics to private parties

Chandigarh, May 8 (UNI) In order to provide quality technical education in the state, the Punjab Government has decided to develop and upgrade four polytechnics under public-private partnership mode.

These polytechnics include Government Polytechnic Colleges at Anandpur Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi, Muktsar and Rahon. These institutions would be developed with the help of Punjab Infrastructure Development Board.

This was disclosed here today by Technical Education and Industrial Training minister Swarna Ram here today.

The minister signed an Memorandom of Understanding (MOU) with Guru Teg Bahadur Charitable Health and Education Awareness Society and Adesh Foundation for the upgradation of the government polytechnics at Anandpur Sahib, Muktsar and Sultanpur Lodhi.

The MoU for the polytechnic college at Rahon would be signed later on.

According to the Minister the private parties would develop and run the government polytechnics. He further said that this decision has been taken to encourage public private partnership in the field of technical education and to improve the standard of education in government institutions.
