Hyderabad, May 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) M A Basith today said the Central Crime Station (CCS) was investigating the involvement of several political leaders whose names were revealed by Rashid, the alleged kingpin in human trafficking scam.

Addressing newspersons here, Mr Basith said the police would file cases against the political leaders, including former TRS leader and Union Minister A Narendra, after obtaining solid evidences.

Stating that over 150 fake passports cases were detected every year at the Begumpet airport, he said 29 cases, including Rashid's fake passport scam, were so far registered this year.

Referring to naxal violence in the state, the DGP said the incidents of extremist violence had declined in the state since last year.

Altogether, 168 naxals were arrested and another 88 surrendered this year.

Mr Basith said the police had launched joint operations with Chhattisgarh and Orissa to curb naxal menace.

With white collar crimes and road accidents on the rise in the state, he said the police had urged the state government to constitute a special body and enforce a law to bring all departments under one roof to reduce vehicle accident deaths in the state.
