Mysore, May 8 (UNI) Senior Janata Dal(Secular) Leader and Karnataka Home Minister M P Prakash today clarified that he will not contest elections but will remain active in politics.

Speaking to newsmen here, Mr Prakash said though he would continue to be active in politics there was no change in his stand of not contesting elections.

The JD(S) State President said his party would contest the Ullal Assembly by-election but ruled out any alliance with any party.

When his attention was drawn to the demand by Lokayukta for more power to take action against erring legislators and IAS officials, Mr Prakash said the issue would be discussed in the next cabinet meeting.

Mr Prakash defended JD(S) Supremo and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda writing letters to the government and ministers of both the coalition partners.

''As the national President of the party, he (Mr Gowda) has the right to write and it has been done in the interest of the state's development. There is nothing wrong in it.'' UNI
