Replying to a question about introduction of passenger service between Hassan and Mangalore, Mr Kumar said that there was some hitch in commencing the service as the Railway Safety Cell has imposed condition that only one train can run on the new track laid at a time i.e if passenger train was run, goods train cannot be run at the same time on the track for safety reason since the track pass through earth where landslides were common.
"However, we are confident that the new track was capable of taking load of both passenger as well as goods train at a time and the Railway Board has been contacted to direct the Safety cell to lift the condition.
