Panch witness identifies empty cartriges, other material

Mumbai, May 8 (UNI) A spot panch witness, while deposing before the sessions court conducting trials into murder of BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, today identified three empty bullet cartridges recovered from the late leader's house in Purna building at Worli, apart from other material collected by police from the spot.

Dattaram Narvankar substantiated the prosecution claim that three bullets were fired by Pravin Mahajan, younger brother of the slain leader, by confirming that three empty cartriges were recovered from the Worli flat. One of the cartrige was lying on blood-stained sofa, one underneath it, and the third cartridge was found near the cable line of the TV set.

He also told that three prominent blood stained sites were found in the flat and apart from taking photographs of the spots, the police had also taken cotton swab samples. The sealed samples were desealed by additional sessions judge Shrihari Davare today.

Dattaram identified the empty cartridges and the cotton swabs also.

He told the court how Pravin Mahajan's Maruti Swift car was recovered from the compound of Purna building.

Defence lawyers will now cross examine the spot panch witness on Thursday. Lone independent eye witness in the case Mahesh Wankhede, maid servent of the Mahajans, might also be called for deposition the same day.
