Notices issued to TRS dissident MLAs : Speaker

Hyderabad, May 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker K R Suresh Reddy today said notices were served on nine Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLAs in connection with the voting in the recently-held elections to the Legislative Council from the State Assembly.

Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Reddy said he was acting on a complaint from the TRS Legislature Party seeking their expulsion from the state Assembly for violating the party whip during the elections.

The TRS claimed that nine dissident TRS MLAs had voted for Independent candidate K Gnaneshwar in the council elections in violation of the party whip.

The Speaker said he has asked nine MLAs to reply by May 20.

Those served with notices were M Satyanarayana Reddy, T Jagga Reddy, D Srinivasa Rao, B Sara Rani, K Lingaiah, G Mukund Reddy, Narayana Rao Patel, S Bapu Rao and S Santosh Reddy.

Following cross-voting, the TRS, which fielded two candidates for the MLC polls, could get only one candidate, Md Rehman, elected, while the other candidate S Sudarshan was defeated.
