Norwester brings relief to Kolkata

Kolkata, May 8 (UNI) Kolkata today heaved a sigh of relief as the sky remained partly clouded and there were a few spells of rain in the city and its suburbs in the morning.

Mercury was lowered by four degrees to 34 after today's rains from 39 degrees Celsius yesterday. The minimum temperature was 26.7 degrees Celsius with slight deviation of one degree, Met officials said.

Humidity in the air was recorded maximum at 95 per cent and 58 per cent minimum, they said.

Thanks to a smart Norwester, Kolkata and its surrounding areas experienced about 40.7 mm rainfall as compared to none yesterday.

During the next 24 hours the sky will remain cloudy with possibility of rain and thundershowers in and around Kolkata, Met officials added.
