'Nirmal Gaon Samman' to 3 gram panchayats

Kaushambi, May 8 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam has awarded 'Nirmal Gaon Samman' to three gram panchayats of the district for excellence in the 'Gramin Swachhata Programme.' In a recent event at New Delhi, Dr Kalam honoured the Meerpur, Baliyavan and Medraha gram panchayats with a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh each.

The Uttar Pradesh government had recommended the names of these gram panchayats for the 'Nirmal Gaon Samman' in June 2006, district Panchayati Raj official Ravindra Rai here today said.
